Sunday Summary - September 30 - October 6, 2018

Sunday Summary for the Week of September 30 to October 6, 2018

Welcome to my Sunday Summary.  A look back on my bookish adventures for the week.

It is Thanksgiving weekend here in Canada! As I write this, my first batch of homemade Kaiser rolls are rising, the second batch is in the mixer, and meatballs are up next! Whew! I am looking forward to having dinner with the family.  I only wish the weather was a little warmer and dryer so that the kids could burn off some energy outside.

One of the things I am most thankful for in my life is family.  Although currently I find that it is a bit of a challenge to find a little "me" time.  I am not only of the "sandwich" generation, but with a significant age gap at that.  My mother is 82 years old, and my son is 6.  Although my mother enjoys reasonably good health and Independence, she has finally decided to give up the family home of 45 years, so I have been busy assisting her with preparing for her move to an apartment at the end of this month. I look forward to her settling in to her new home closer to me.

I wish my fellow Canadians a Happy Thanksgiving Weekend!

Books Reviewed:

This week there were only two reviews posted to the blog.

THE LAST TIME i LIED, by Riley Sager. My review of this gripping thriller set in the woods of a summer camp can be found Here.

THE TRAVELLING CAT CHRONICLES, by Hiro Arikawa, translated by Phillip Gabriel.  This book has blown me away.  I reviewed this heartwarming and bitter-sweet tale Here.

Ramblings and Miscellany:

I haven't posted anything for this heading this week. I am working on my post for the Sunshine Blogger Award that I was tagged for by Katie at Kati's Bookaholic Rambling Reviews. This is a fun way for Bloggers to get to know each other and cross-promote each other. Thank you Kati for the nomination/tag!

Advance Reading Copy (ARC) Books Previously Reviewed and Released this Week:

TRICKSTER DRIFT, by Eden Robinson was released on October 2nd and is now available.  If you liked SON OF A TRICKSTER, you will love this sequel!  You can read my review Here.

Currently Reading and Notable Titles on Deck:

My current read is a last minute ARC addition to my line up, as I received a copy of  FOREVER AND A DAY, by Anthony Horowitz. This is the prequel to CASINO ROYALE, by Ian Flemming. This book boasts the use of original material by Flemming.  I have never read any of the James Bond books, (but i have seen all the movies) nor have I read any of Horowitz' books (though I did purchase a copy of his last book THE WORD IS MURDER  which I still intend to read. So FOREVER AND A DAY will expand my literary horizon's on two fronts!

Happy Thanksgiving to my Canadian readers, and Happy Reading to all!
Christine
