My Rating (out of 5)
⭐⭐⭐ 1/2

A solid and disturbing thriller.

When Harry gets news of his father's death, he skips his college graduation ceremony and immediately returns to his home town. Initially suspected as a suicide, the police soon change their theory to murder.

Who would kill Harry's father and why? His Dad's attractive young widow is acting a bit inappropriate, but is that just grief or something more sinister? Who is the mysterious woman suddenly in town, attending the funeral and appearing at his Dad's bookstore under the thinly veiled guise of asking for a job?

This story is complex and well crafted.  Told in alternating time-lines and focusing on alternating characters, several threads are slowly twisted together into a delightfully disturbing ending

This is a difficult book to summarize while trying to avoid spoilers.  There seems to be so much more to say, but every time I try to say it, I feel I am dropping hints and spoilers - so I will stop here.

Narration was clear and with appropriate range of emotion and character.

Happy Reading,
Christine
