A stunning psychological thriller, sure to please fans of the genre!
Alicia Berenson had a lot going for her. Her husband was a fashion photographer in high demand, but she also had her own rewarding and highly successful career as an artist. So what would inspire her to shoot the husband she loved in the face five times, only to never utter another word?
Theo Faber is intrigued and perhaps just a little obsessed with Alicia's inability or unwillingness to speak. As a psychotherapist who specializes in criminal behaviors, he joins a "sinking ship" of a locked hospital ward in order to indulge his own obsession. Theo is determined to get Alicia to talk and hear what it is she has to say about the events of that night. Meanwhile the reader is privy to Alicia's diary entries of the time leading up to the murder.
As Theo pushes boundaries and breaks rules in his quest to understand her motivations that night, he must also ask himself why he feels so compelled to break through to this one particular patient.
Narration was performed by Jack Hawkins and Louise Brealey. Both narrators provided excellent quality work with good emotional range and pleasant cadence and tone.
Rumor has it that the film rights to this book have been sold to "an Oscar-winning producer" not yet named. I for one would love to see this done as a movie!

Filled with mystery and intrigue, a touch of Greek legend, and a stunning conclusion, this book is worth the hype it is already receiving.
